SameTime 7.5 beta 3, testround 1

I checked out the sametime 7.5 beta3 today. I must admitt that I’m really impressed. There’s alot of things we’ve seen other IM-solutions carrying around for years. But also brand new features which shows that the IBM guys aren’t just copy cat. One feature I directly can tell will save us time and our clients money is the ability to supereasy copy a part of the screen and paste it in the chat-dialog. Awesome!

The sharing thing is as it used to be, but the “ProjectorImages”, sorry, for some reason my client decided I wanted it in my local language so I’m not exactly sure what the correct english term is. Anyway this is a function that allowed me to upload a 70 pages large PDF file and navigate it between the pages seamlessly, and at the very same time(!) as my collegues was seeing it. Again: Awesome.

I’m still to test the sound and speach features, hang on!
So far: five stars of five.

Also, keep in mind what Ed Brill says about the beta server site:

Thus, if you check it out and write about it, I do please ask you to consider that this is beta code, not necessarily feature-complete, and things will change before release.

During IBM webcast presentation of Sametime 7.5 which was 2 weeks ago, 70 participants were kicked 2 times and to listen to the presenter’s voice people had to dial USA-number where they were put on hold for 10 minutes. Parts of the presentation screen were sometimes not refreshed and switching between pages was slow. Hopefully no Microsoft representetives were on the webcast to spread the happy news of reliability.

“Copy screen part” feature is pretty cool though.
Would be interesting to see your test of audiochat features.
