Usability and graphics
It is definitely not the field where I consider myself an expert, how much consult I ever am, but [tag]usability[tag] and layout is something I’m struggeling with, I simply don’t have the intution but I do have the will to get things right (and the collegues to help me out).
In my efforts to create better solutions I follow numerous blogs, one of them in the usability field is Passionate. It’s not a personal blog but to quote the about text:
The Creating Passionate Users bloggers are all authors of bestseller Head First books {link}–a new brain-friendly series from O’Reilly.
They’re all passionate about the brain and metacognition, most especially–how the brain works and how to exploit it for better learning and memory. Oh yeah, and how to recognize when someone else (including one of us) is applying brain-based techniques to get you to do something.
There is a post named “Do your graphics say the wrong thing“, a long and very informative post with arguments and examples on how to make easy-to-understand for the users.
I recommend reading that post and the whole blog for instance
