Windows Desktop Search indexing notes mail

My desktop both physical and virtual is allways making people forced to leave a comment, and I can assure you that they never say “An empty desktop is an empty mind” to me. Well, lucky me I’m into computers and not old books or papers etc.

I can therfor use any search engine I like. So far I’ve been using Google Desktop and it suited me well, the only thing it never did was indexing my [tag]Lotus Notes[/tag] mail. A pity ofcourse.

I wrote about the windows search Lotus Notes mail indexer plugin earlier and now I tried it.

Nothing happened

The I understood that I needed the Windows Desktop Search so I installed that. It’s currently updating all my stuff now (I think).

I’ll give a better report later on

Google does index Notes mail files (must be local) if you’re using their Enterprise edition of Google Desktop search. I’ve been using it since last year and it works very well.

Cool J. Let us know. As well as performance. I have the feeling that Google Desktop Search significantly slows down the computer (my setup 640 mB 1,2 mHz) Do you agree?

Thanks Ted for the reply. I have just removed my old Google Desktop and re-installed the new Enterprise version as you recommended.

I don’t feel any direct performance difference when the Google Desktop is running or not. However, the first time indexing takes a day or so and that is ofcourse decreasing the speed experience, but when that is done it’s all working neatly. I do have 2Gb / 1.5Gb on my computers, I think your 640Mb computer is a bit underequipped.
